Mark Harris (BSc Hons, Manchester) graduated from Manchester University and then did a year’s postgraduate research at University College, London and a short spell as a theatre manager. He joined an established London tutorial college in 1982 to teach Chemistry and Economics, subsequently being promoted to Vice Principal of the college. In 1991 he went to a leading college in Cambridge to introduce an Easter Revision Programme, before returning to London to join forces with Claire and realise their dream of building a unique London tutorial college. Apart from the organisation of the College, Mark mainly tutors Chemistry and Economics. His personal interests include opera, growing vegetables organically on his allotment and classic car restoration.

“When Mark and I founded this college in 1992 we were young but experienced tutors with a vision of using our teaching skills to prepare students for A-level success. Now, over 25 years later, I can look back on hundreds of exam successes helping people to fulfil their ambitions and dreams.
We are a small college of fewer than a hundred students, which means that there is a sense of family here. Each student’s individuality is recognised and appreciated. Staff and students are on first name terms and there are never more than eight students to a class. Whatever a student’s experience has been in the past, with the kind of personal attention we are able to provide here, it’s possible for them to achieve their full potential.”
Claire Campbell (BA Hons, London) was educated in Cambridge and London, before going on to gain a postgraduate teaching qualification at Goldsmiths College. Claire has more than 24 years of experience teaching English. In the State system, she was promoted to Head of Faculty of Language and Communication and also taught in California on an exchange programme. From 1988-91, Claire worked at a London tutorial college, joining as Head of Arts and becoming Director of Studies a year later. In 1992 she joined forces with Mark Harris to co-found Campbell Harris College. Claire is Head of English at the college and is avidly dedicated to literature and the theatre.
